Trying Out a New Header
It doesn't have the "pulpit" connection, but it is pretty.
I'll take guesses on what it is. The winner will receive much acclaim and fame. Somehow.
Seriously, take a guess.

One of the churches of Cappadocia? That or one of the churches in the Holy Land.
The vaults of a catacomb?
Somewhere in Italy by the looks of the marble and frescoe.
This is fun!
This reminds me of an AWESOME tiny, old chapel outside of Oberstaufen near my mother's little berg. There was a section of the chapel which showed how the frescos had been covered over and how they removed the years of paint and dirt to reveal the old frescos again. If you look in the apse of the chapel you can see every bit of it was covered with images.
You can't see it in the picture but one of the figures on the left side altar (I think) was holding his own head--complete with a bishop's hat.
Your blog banner image is too cavernous to be this little chapel but the partially revealed frescos was a nice flashback.
Well I have no idea where it is, but it certainly is a dramatic image!
